About us
Members of the Hypermedia Research Unit (HRU) have been active in the area of intelligent hypermedia systems since 1991. The group has its origins in the development of a hypermedia museum exhibit on local history from the photographic archives of the Pontypridd Historical and Cultural Centre. Research goals have broadened and work now spans a range of themes within the broad areas of Hypermedia, Multimedia, HCI and Information Science.
The The New Review of Hypermedia and Multimedia (Taylor and Francis) has been edited from the HRU since 1997. The HRU has attracted external funding from the AHRC, British Council, EC, ESRC, EPSRC and HEFCW. It is a member of the EC FP6 DELOS Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries and participates in activities within Cluster 5 on Knowledge Extraction and Semantic Interoperability.
There are currently four full-time members of staff, two research fellows and several PhD students working in the unit.
