MARINES Project
The MARINES project investigates the application of multi-agent systems to marine navigation simulation. Use of agents allows more realistic motion for instructor controlled target ships and has implications for more realistic and responsive simulations when significant human interaction is required.

GUI_UML_Tutor Project
The GUI_UML_Tutor project investigates ways in which relative novices to the Unified Modelling Language (UML) may be assisted in the learning process. The use of a simple GUI builder tool is intended to stimulate the analysis and design process and provide a visual link between the design and the software implementation. The use of software design patterns is also encouraged with some stereotyped classes being generated automatically.
Prototype tutor software has been developed which provides a basic GUI builder and a simple Use Case modeller. Tutorial exercises and context sensitive help use multimedia to enhance the student experience as the target audience have been found to be active learners. Evaluations are currently underway.
