AHRC Funds STELLAR Project

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has announced its support (£110k) for a Glamorgan Hypermedia Research Unit project proposal, Semantic Technologies Enhancing Links and Linked data for Archaeological Resources (STELLAR). The project is in collaboration with co-investigators at York University Archaeology Department and English Heritage. Directed by Professor Douglas Tudhope (PI), STELLAR will build on outcomes and tools from the previous AHRC funded STAR project (£222k), which in its turn extended semantic search techniques initially developed through the EPSRC funded FACET project (£121k), a collaboration with the Science Museum.

An article on The New Review of Hypermedia and Multimedia (NRHM) has just been published in the ACM SIGWEB Newsletter, Winter (January 2010), Article No. 1.
“New Review of Hypermedia and Multimedia: Reflecting on 20 Years of Hypermedia”.
Daniel Cunliffe and Douglas Tudhope are Editors of NRHM (Taylor & Francis) and briefly review NRHM‘s history, within the Hypermedia field, and its current role.

The Welsh Language Board have just released an independent report which they commissioned from Dr Daniel Cunliffe of the Computing and Minority Languages Group. It explores issues, good practice and suggestions for organisations which are planning to make web2.0 services available bilingually.
