Biography
I have an early background in civil and structural engineering; however the advent of CAD and GIS systems in the late 1980’s quickly rendered my well honed (!) manual draughtsmanship skills all but redundant, and I pursued a new career path within Information Technology.
I graduated with a BSc(hons) in Computer Science from University of Glamorgan in 1997, undertaken part-time whilst working for Hyder IT. I initially joined the University of Glamorgan in 2000 to undertake development work on the FACET project, and implemented various standalone and web-based systems during the project. After a brief period with an external software development company working on e-commerce systems, I rejoined the University of Glamorgan in January 2007. I am currently working in the Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Advanced Technology. I am a member of the Hypermedia Research Unit working on the STAR project (Semantic Technologies for Archaeological Resources).
Related research interests include Knowledge Organisation Systems, semantic web applications and interface design.
